We’re starting off this week with our newest music picks for the week ending January 11. Some of these have debuted late last year, such as Royals by Lorde, some have been long-awaited by fans like Katy Perry‘s Dark Horse, and many of these are new releases.
Check out the videos below and let us know which one is your favorite!
1. Timber – Pitbull Featuring Ke$ha
Timber’s upbeat country riff has caused one of the most potent cases of earworm for the holidays 2013, and it’s still rampant.
2. Counting Stars – OneRepublic
An understated feel-good single with a dance beat, Counting Stars is a testament to our secret hopes, as depicted in the video.
3. Stay With You Tonight – Clinton Sparks feat. Riff Raff
This track’s opening cadence is reminiscent of Should I Stay or Should I Go by The Clash.
4. The Monster – Eminem Featuring Rihanna
Since we posted about that video on misheard lyrics for 2013, I’ve been singing this powerful track the wrong way.
5. My Own Worst Enemy – Get Scared
Get Scared manages to own this 1999 track with their punk sound, which is actually a cover from the band Lit.
6. Royals – Lorde
16-year-old Lorde took the world by storm last year with this single, and its popularity is still riding high.
7. Say Something – A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera
One of my personal favorites for this season, thanks to Christina Aguilera’s low-key rendition.
8. Says She Loves Me – Aer
Aer’s newest single is crazy-happy, and guaranteed to improve a bad mood.
9. Dark Horse – Katy Perry Featuring Juicy J
Dark Horse is a sexy combination of heavy dance beats and an ethereal hook, though it could do without Juicy J.
10. You Sound Good To Me – Lucy Hale
Lucy Hale wows her Pretty Little Liars fans with her bright and sunny country-themed single.
